THC (terminal handling charge) explained
THC is the charge for moving a container through the terminal. It is billed separately at origin and at destination — neither is part of the ocean freight median.
| Charge | Typical range |
|---|---|
| Origin THC (China, per 40HQ) | CNY 700–1,300 |
| Destination THC (Europe, per 40HQ) | EUR 150–280 |
THC is often the single biggest "extra" after ocean freight. Ask for an all-in quote if you need a landed figure.
